Thursday Things
I’m starting to think these random Thursday posts should be a weekly staple on She’s on the Run.
What I’m watching:
The CMA’s tonight! Although I’m into a bunch of random music (70s, rap, light rock, pop), county may be the top of the list for me. I’m especially excited that Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are performing. Tune to ABC at 8/7 central if you want in.
What I’m drinking:
I go through smoothie phases. Months will go by without me touching one and then I’ll drink a smoothie for breakfast every morning for a week. I created this Mango Protein Smoothie on the fly before work today, and dare I say it’s the best one I’ve invented so far.
Mango Protein Smoothie
4 ounces Mango Good Belly Probiotic Drink
4 ounces apple juice
1/2 cup frozen diced mango
3 ice cubes
1 scoop protein powder (I used Perfect Blocks from Fortified Nutrition)
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add a few tablespoons of water, if needed, to thin the smoothie out.
What I’m wearing:
Or should I say, what I will be wearing. I’ve confessed on here that I love fashion blogs. As a subscriber to Lucky Magazine, I discovered a new blog, For All Things Lovely. I love Megan’s girly style and how she can pull of the most daring of looks. I fell in love with this necklace that Megan sported with an olive blazer and jeans. When I found out it was Lia Sophia, I immediately started looking for it so I could purchase it, which I found on their website for $98. However, I think that’s a lot to pay for costume jewelery, so I went to ebay instead and scored the same necklace for $45! I hope it’s as lovely in person as it looks on screen. #sigh
What I’m reading:
It seems like everyone in the blog world has already read “Gone Girl” By Gillian Flynn. Right now I’m halfway through the audiobook (I have to pass my 30 minute commute somehow!). All the clues in the book point to Nick, the husband, as being the perpetrator. I feel like the author never makes it that simple, so I’m on the edge of my car seat to hear who really did it.
What I’m wishing I could turn back time for:
Here is my battle scar after roasting my first turkey breast in the oven. Brenton probably thought I was being a baby after I burned myself. Well, I obviously wasn’t whining over nothing! By the way, doesn’t it look like there’s a cross in the middle of that circle burn? It’s kind of like someone who sees Jesus in their toast.
Question: What are you watching/reading/wearing/eating/wishing you could turn back time for?

man that is one battle scar, i have been wanting to make my own turkey but they totally intimidate me

That is my worst cooking fear too! I’ve never even roasted a chicken. At least the turkey turned out and was edible!

I love that you found the necklace you wanted for half the price. Great find!
So sorry to hear about your burn. OUCH! I have burns all over my arm from culinary school…people always ask “are you a chef” because of them. It’s kind of funny now, but definitely wasn’t then. I hope it heals up nicely! I put aloe on my last burn and wrapped gauze around it. I really think it helped, because it didn’t even leave a mark even though it was a pretty bad burn!

That’s a good tip, Brigitt. I’ve put Neosporin on it twice, but I should break the aloe out. Hopefully I didn’t miss that window and then be stuck with a scar :(

I like these Thursday Things posts!! They always introduce me to new stuff. Megan’s blog is adorable! I hope your burn is ok! Next time, here’s a tip my mom always gave me: put butter on it. Not only does it help cool the skin down but it also moisturizes it.

Butter? You are such a southerner, Carol! LOL Good thing it’s aplenty in WI.

I started Gone Girl this summer and am stalled about 150 pages in! It’s not that I wasn’t enjoying it, I just haven’t had much of a chance to read since school started back up again!

I’ve stalled with the two other books I am reading – “The Lola Papers” and “My Berlin Kitchen.” I cannot take a third stall in a row!

I read Gone Girl (actually listened to it on audiobook too) and loved it. Get ready for a surprising twist! Wait..I thought the CMAs were next week?! Yesss love country music.
Yay! You give me hope that I’ll like it then :)

Yikes…that is a wicked burn. Hope it is healing soon. I always burn myself but never that bad. I just finished Gone Girl…I can’t wait until you get a little further…

Love the CMAs, but I also love my DVR for letting me forward through the Brad & Carrie bits. Love their music and their both adorable, but I wish they pick different hosts.
Hope your burn heals soon, that looks painful!

I completely agree. They host everything together. They need someone new.

Ow!! That burn looks painful. I would definitely listen to audio books if I had to commute!! I was in the middl of some books that I had to return to the library!

I hate that! Gone Girl is 15 discs, so I hope I can finish in time. Or at least within the grace period.

Yikes! I hope you feel better!
I just finished “Born to Run” about a tribe in Mexico that runs super long distances without tiring. It was really interesting!

I’ve heard about that one. I think Sun has read it :)

Ouch!! I hate when I burn myself. Being clumsy and in the kitchen all the time are sometimes not a good equation for me. Hope it’s feeling better!! I love the stuff you post about fashion because I am completely clueless in that department. Your fashion stuff on pinterest is awesome!! I had never heard of that probiotic drink, but I am going to try to find it now, that shake looks awesome!!

You are too sweet, Alissa! I actually wanted to post some more fashion stuff on Thursday but life got in the way. It’s coming though! (Even though I feel silly posting about it!)
